PostGIS 1.3.6 resmi di rilis pada 6 Mei 2009 lalu. Ada beberapa perbaikan dari bugs yang ada. Selengkapnya tentang rilis PostGIS versi terbaru ini bisa dilihat di halaman release note. Sementara halaman download untuk update ini tersedia disini.
Kabar tentang PostGIS lainnya selain rilis terbaru tersebut, yaitu telah terbitnya buku PostGIS in Action yang di buat oleh Regina Obe dan Leo Hsu. Buku tersebut tersedia dalam ebook dan print book di Manning Publications. Berikut adalah table of contents dari buku setebal 325 halaman tersebut :
